You do not need an advanced degree in a scientific discipline to understand science, but you do have to read science. I encourage all people who want to align with positive psychology to read primary sources. This means you are not confining your reading to blogs and popular books. You are also reading some articles and chapters to be a better consumer of science: stay abreast of new developments, read the unfiltered findings, and so forth.
I wrote a short piece on how to reach a psychological article. I wrote it for college students, so it will have a slight slant in that direction. Even so, it applies to you.
